About Discover Albania

Discover Albania is an independent travel guide to Albania, built to help visitors plan trips with confidence. We cover the destinations that make the country special: the lively capital Tirana, the UNESCO-listed towns of Berat and Gjirokastër, the beaches of the Albanian Riviera, the remote valleys of the Albanian Alps and the lakes and rivers in between.

The project is created and maintained by DautiTech, a small software company based in Namur, Belgium. We built it because the people behind it love the country and kept hearing the same questions from friends and family planning a first visit: where should we stay, how do we get around, what is worth seeing, and when is the best time to go?

What you will find here

  • Detailed destination guides with top sights, hidden gems, transport and practical tips.
  • Hotel, beach, restaurant and activity listings to help you compare options.
  • Ready-made road trips and a trip planner for building your own route.
  • In-depth articles in our travel blog.
  • A phrasebook, a travel guide and local information for a smooth arrival.
  • A free mobile app for Android and iOS with the same content, available in four languages.

How we work

We write our guides from first-hand knowledge, published sources and the feedback of travellers. Where we show prices, opening hours, ferry timetables or road conditions, they are indicative and can change, particularly between seasons, so we always recommend confirming key details shortly before you travel. Photos come from our own collection, from Wikimedia Commons contributors and from photographers on Unsplash, and we credit them where required.

Some links on the site lead to third-party services, such as hotel booking platforms. We may earn a small commission if you book through them, at no additional cost to you. This never affects which places we describe. The site is also supported by advertising, which helps keep the guides free.

Corrections and suggestions

Albania changes quickly. If you spot something that is out of date, or you want to suggest a place we should cover, please get in touch. We read every message.
